The structure of the flap disc is mainly composed of several sheets of sandpaper glued together around the edge of the disc, which has good grinding ability and the characteristics of obtaining a delicate surface effect. Specifically, flap discs usually have two shapes: curved and flat. The grinding plane of the curved flap disc is designed with an upward angle, so that all blades can contact the workpiece, so the cutting rate and surface effect are relatively consistent; while the grinding surface of the flat flap disc is relatively flat, the initial cutting efficiency is higher, but the surface effect is rougher.
In addition, the number of blades in the flap disc will also affect its performance. High-density flap discs (i.e. flap discs with more blades) have higher cutting efficiency, but are also relatively expensive.
